Awtrey Middle School Students Win Essay Contest

March 14, 2017 by cobbcountyfarmbureau

Each year, Georgia Farm Bureau hosts the Middle School Essay contest. The purpose of this essay contest is to encourage students to increase their level of agricultural literacy through research and through presentations by county Farm Bureau volunteers. The contest is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders in Georgia.

The topic of the 2018 Essay contest was: What are the benefits of school gardens?

Students responses focused on Ag education and sustainability. Cobb County is pleased to have all of our essay contest winners be attendees of Awtrey Middle School. Of the top three students from the county, the best essay was entered to compete against other essays in the 3rd District. The winners at the district level will receive a $100 cash prize and an opportunity for their essay to also be selected as the state winner, with the potential to win an additional $150 cash prize.

The teacher with the most student essay entries also received an reward from our county office.
