Careers in agriculture make up the predominant workforce in Georgia; 1 in every 7 careers are Ag based. These careers span the spectrum from farming and food science to accounting and marketing or engineering; there is no limit to the opportunity for careers in agriculture.
The purpose of the Georgia Agriculture in the Classroom is to increase agricultural literacy among children and the general public. It provides tools for more effective teaching about agriculture and its role in an interdependent society, and to assist Georgia ’s educators in implementing the instruction of agriculture-related concepts in the classroom. Each lesson is different and can be structured to fit the need of the teacher. Our lessons are perfect for STEM curriculum however, they can also be incorporated in social studies, language arts, and health lessons.
These are short lessons presented by volunteers who are farmers, community leaders, master gardeners, and citizens of Cobb County. We are a grassroots organization that thrives on our committed volunteers. Volunteers play an indispensable role in everything from teaching students in the classroom to entertaining them at our farmers market… from keeping elected officials informed to serving on the board of directors, to serving as judge for our scholarship program.
